Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a massive development campaign in Kushinagar on Saturday, initiating 464 development projects. These initiatives, spanning several assembly constituencies including Ramkola, Hata, and Kushinagar, are aimed at transforming local infrastructure by upgrading roads, electricity, drinking water, and other essential civic facilities.
Historical and Spiritual Legacy of Kushinagar
Kushinagar holds immense historical and spiritual significance globally. The Chief Minister highlighted its deep-rooted connection to the era of Lord Ram, as well as its global recognition as the sacred site of Mahaparinirvana for both Lord Buddha and Lord Mahavir. Despite its rich cultural heritage and massive potential for growth, previous administrations consistently neglected the region. This long-standing political apathy forced the local population to migrate to other areas in search of livelihood opportunities, leaving Kushinagar economically stagnant for decades.
Honoring Centenarians and Protecting the Future
During the event, Yogi Adityanath publicly honored two veteran political workers, Ramvilas Bhagat and Rampravesh Sahni, who have dedicated their entire lives to public service. Both party workers have crossed the milestone of 100 years of age. Reflecting on the importance of nurturing the next generation, the Chief Minister recalled a heartwarming moment from the infant feeding ceremony (Annaprashan) held during the program. He mentioned how an infant he held refused to go back to its mother, emphasizing that ensuring a secure, healthy, and prosperous future for children remains the topmost priority of his government, as a protected childhood lays the foundation for a strong nation.
Tackling Encephalitis and Empowering Marginalized Communities
Addressing health challenges, the Chief Minister recalled the devastating impact of encephalitis, which once plagued the region during this season. Historically, thousands of children fell victim to this deadly disease every year, with the majority being referred to BRD Medical College in Gorakhpur due to a severe lack of local medical facilities. He claimed that relentless efforts since 2017 have successfully brought the disease under control. Criticizing past governments, he stated that marginalized groups, such as the Musahar community, were systematically denied land leases and basic welfare benefits. He emphasized that the current "double-engine" government is committed to ensuring that welfare schemes, housing, and food security reach every underprivileged family under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
