A major road accident occurred in the Valmikipuram mandal of Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday when a passenger bus went out of control and overturned on the road. Approximately 20 passengers aboard the vehicle sustained injuries in the crash. The unexpected flip created panic at the spot as nearby residents and commuters rushed forward to assist the victims. Initial findings indicate that the driver lost control after one of the bus tyres suddenly burst while in transit. The entire sequence of the crash was also captured on a nearby CCTV camera.
Vehicle Overturned Near Viralam En Route to Tirupati
The vehicle involved was an Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) non-stop bus commuting from Madanapalle toward Tirupati. When the bus reached the vicinity of Viralam within Valmikipuram mandal, a sudden tyre blowout destabilised the moving heavy vehicle. The driver was unable to steer or regain balance in time, causing the bus to flip onto its side along the roadway. The violent crash left passengers trapped inside before emergency assistance arrived.
Injured Hospitalised Without Critical Harm
Local residents quickly mobilized to help extricate the stranded passengers from the overturned cabin. Around 20 injured commuters were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation and dressing. Attending medical staff confirmed that none of the injured passengers are in critical condition. The news that all casualties suffered non-life-threatening injuries came as a major relief to their anxious families and local authorities.
Other Recent Highway Collisions in the Region
This incident follows several deadly vehicular collisions in Andhra Pradesh and neighbouring areas over recent weeks. In Palnadu district, a private passenger bus had slammed directly into an auto-rickshaw near Adda Road in Chilakaluripet. That catastrophic collision claimed the lives of 7 people on the spot, while 2 others were left battling critical injuries.
Separately, on August 24, a departmental vehicle mishap in the Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh resulted in the death of a police constable. That vehicle suffered brake failure while transporting personnel to Kondakarakam village for an investigation, also leaving a sub-inspector and the driver injured.
Earlier in August, a massive collision was reported in Suryapet district of Telangana. A private travel bus journeying from Hyderabad to Vijayawada rammed into a container lorry on the outskirts of Dorakunta in Kodad mandal. The violent impact crushed the front cabin of the bus, killing six people instantly and leaving 20 passengers seriously injured.
