Police in Thailand have dismantled an international kidnapping ring by arresting 5 Indian nationals involved in abducting 3 Indian tourists and demanding a massive ransom. Arrest of Five Suspects from Bangkok Hotel
Law enforcement officers apprehended all 5 suspects from a hotel located in the Khlong Tan area of Bangkok just as they prepared to leave Thailand. The arrested individuals have been identified as Avatar Singh, aged 38; Jagjeet Singh, aged 38; Rambalak Kumar, aged 24; Sukhbir Singh, aged 37; and Kulra Singh, aged 27. During initial questioning, the suspects disclosed that they were operating under explicit instructions from an overseas handler.
Dubai-Based Pakistani Mastermind and Cryptocurrency Ransom Plan
The suspects informed investigators that they had been communicating with the Dubai-based Pakistani national for approximately 1 month via a chat application. The mastermind devised the kidnapping scheme and intended to collect the ransom strictly in cryptocurrency to evade financial tracking. To motivate the suspects, the handler promised them valuable assets, cash payments, and plane tickets out of Thailand once the operation was completed.
Indian Embassy Intervention Following Ransom Demands
The kidnappers targeted the families of the abducted victims, demanding a ransom of 40 lakh rupees for each kidnapped person. Upon receiving these extortion demands, the distressed families immediately contacted the Indian Embassy in Thailand. Reacting swiftly to the grave situation, embassy officials alerted the Chonburi Immigration Police and Pattaya City Police on July 21 to initiate an emergency rescue operation.
Police Raid on Pattaya Building Rescues Three Tourists
Acting on intelligence reports and surveillance camera footage, police identified a two-story building in Pattaya where the victims were being detained. Operational teams launched a swift raid on the premises and successfully rescued all 3 Indian tourists unharmed. The rescued individuals were identified as Mohit, aged 23; Ashish, aged 24; and Himanshu, aged 20.
