Weather conditions across multiple provinces remain volatile as atmospheric systems continue to trigger widespread rainfall.

According to the latest meteorological assessments from the DHM, the monsoon trough is currently positioned slightly south of its normal location over western Nepal, while remaining close to its average axis in the eastern region. This atmospheric configuration has kept overcast skies prevailing over most parts of the country. Several provinces are already experiencing light to moderate precipitation, creating saturated soil conditions that make hilly terrains particularly vulnerable to slope failures.
Regional Outlook for Friday Afternoon and Night
For Friday afternoon, overcast conditions are predicted nationwide, with light to moderate rain expected across scattered places in the hilly and mountainous belts. Moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is anticipated in parts of the southern Terai plains. Isolated heavy downpours are likely over one or two locations within the high-altitude districts of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces. Precipitation is projected to persist through Friday night, with Koshi province expecting heavy rains in both its plain and hilly sectors, alongside continued heavy downpours in Bagmati and Gandaki.

Meteorological authorities emphasize that the active monsoon phase will persist for the next three days. High-intensity rainfall alerts remain active for specific sectors within Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces. Extended rainfall over these three days is expected to swell river basins and discharge channels, heightening the risk of severe inundation in low-lying settlements and cutting off remote mountain communities.

The DHM has urged communities residing in geologically sensitive and flood-prone zones to maintain maximum vigilance against soil erosion, mudslides, and sudden torrents of debris. Authorities warned that the intense weather spell is likely to disrupt daily livelihoods, agricultural practices, medical delivery, tourism, and high-altitude trekking operations. Furthermore, surface vehicular movement and domestic aviation could face severe delays or suspensions due to degraded visibility and landslide-blocked roadways, prompting officials to advise travelers to monitor real-time weather bulletins.
