Cadets belonging to the 47 Assam R&V Squadron of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) took to horseback at Khanapara in Guwahati on October 16 to stage a prominent rally aimed at championing a drug-free society under the framework of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. The procession featured a dedicated horse-mounted contingent of NCC cadets hailing from the College of Veterinary Science in Khanapara, successfully capturing widespread public attention with its strong stance against substance abuse.
Promoting Social Responsibility and Awareness
The primary objective behind this organized initiative was to build awareness regarding the detrimental impacts of drug abuse while encouraging unified community efforts aimed at achieving a substance-free society. A total of 50 NCC cadets actively participated in the procession. The event provided these young individuals with a meaningful platform to engage directly with the local community, foster a sense of social accountability, and reinforce core values including discipline, leadership, and dedicated service to the nation.
Pledges Taken by Participating Cadets
During the course of the event, the participating cadets took formal pledges to steer clear of substance abuse themselves, spread vital awareness among their peers and respective communities, and actively discourage others from falling victim to the trap of drug addiction. According to the unit, the initiative was met with an encouraging public response and concluded on a successful note, highlighting the community's receptiveness to the message.
Reinforcing National Commitments
Through the staging of this event, the NCC Riding Unit successfully reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to contributing meaningfully to the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan and inspiring the younger generation to act as ambassadors for a healthy, drug-free nation. The entire rally prominently carried the unifying slogan, “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life – Together for a Nasha Mukt Bharat!”
