Authorities have initiated criminal proceedings following the online circulation of a fabricated and manipulated image depicting Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The altered photograph, generated through artificial intelligence, was circulated across digital platforms with the clear intention of misleading the public. Taking strict note of the development, the administration has registered a formal police complaint against the creators and promoters of the synthetic visual.
Official Rebuttal from the Administration
Addressing the controversy through an official statement issued on social media platform X, the Chief Minister's Office highlighted that the administration took serious note of the deliberate digital campaign. Officials affirmed that the widely shared depiction held no factual validity whatsoever and represented an entirely fictitious creation designed to cause confusion among citizens.
The statement strongly condemned the malicious effort to harm the standing of the constitutional head of the state. Criticising the irresponsible use of digital technology, the office emphasized that creating and distributing deceptive content constitutes a direct disrespect to truth and a flagrant abuse of online communication platforms. The authorities reiterated that zero tolerance would be extended toward actors involved in systematic digital smear tactics.
Identification of Culprits and Ensuing Probe
Law enforcement officials have already made decisive headway in tracking down the perpetrators behind the digital fraud. According to official disclosures, investigators have successfully identified individuals directly tied to producing the AI-altered visual as well as those spearheading its wider circulation on various channels.
With the formal case officially lodged, authorities affirmed that comprehensive legal measures are actively underway against all implicated figures. The official communication underlined that no individual participating in the hostile campaign would escape legal accountability. Alongside pursuing the perpetrators, the administration cautioned regular social media participants against acting as instruments for malicious propaganda, advising online users to exercise heightened discernment regarding digital authenticity before forwarding unverified posts.
