Expanding its presence in the Indian electric two-wheeler segment, Ather Energy has introduced its latest offerings in the form of the Ather Konarc. Positioned as the first production model built on the company's new EL platform, the electric scooter arrives with an introductory ex-showroom price tag of Rs 99,999. Designed primarily for everyday commuters and families, the Konarc merges structural durability with modern connected technology and multiple battery range options.
Steel Unibody Chassis and Metal Body Construction
Moving away from the design language seen on the existing 450 series, the Ather Konarc is the manufacturer's first electric scooter to utilize a metal body built over a steel unibody chassis. The exterior styling focuses on utility and structural integrity for daily urban usage rather than aggressive sharp lines. Up front, the scooter features a handlebar-mounted LED headlamp paired with a uniquely styled LED daytime running light (DRL) setup, providing clear visibility and a distinct road presence.
Upgraded Wheel Configuration and Long-Travel Suspension
To improve stability over uneven road surfaces, Ather has incorporated a larger wheel layout for the Konarc. The front end is fitted with a 14-inch alloy wheel, while the rear features a 12-inch wheel. Combined with a 1,352 mm wheelbase, the chassis geometry is engineered to maintain straight-line balance at higher speeds. A long-travel suspension system is integrated to absorb road bumps and enhance overall ride comfort during commuting.
Smart Technology Suite and MagicKey Access
Technological features form a key part of the Konarc package. Higher-spec variants are equipped with a 7-inch DeepView display that presents turn-by-turn navigation, battery status, and essential trip information.
Key convenience features include the MagicKey system, a keyless entry function that automatically detects the rider's proximity to lock or unlock the vehicle without needing a physical key. The scooter also includes an AutoPop feature for opening the seat to reveal a 31-liter underseat storage compartment, suitable for holding helmets and everyday items. For parking in tight spaces or negotiating inclines, the AirWalk feature assists riders in moving the heavy vehicle forward or backward by hand.
Safety Features and Electronic Braking System
Ather has updated the braking and stability hardware across the Konarc variant line. Select upper variants come equipped with a front disc brake alongside Ather Electronic Braking System (AEBS). To prevent unintended rollback on inclines or during stop-and-go traffic, an AutoHold feature is included.
Safety equipment on high-tier models also incorporates Vehicle FallSafe technology. The combination of tubeless tires, the 14-inch front wheel, and the steel unibody structure contributes to overall vehicle stability and protection.
Battery Variants, Power Output, and Real-World Range
The Ather Konarc S lineup is offered in multiple battery capacities and range options. The available IDC range options span 100 km, 125 km, 161 km, and a planned future variant offering up to 200 km IDC range. Current battery configurations include 2.1 kWh, 2.7 kWh, and 3.5 kWh packs.
The 3.5 kWh battery variant carries an official IDC rating of up to 161 km. As real-world range depends on riding conditions, load, traffic, and weather, Ather specifies a separate TrueRange figure. The 125 km IDC version delivers a TrueRange of approximately 100 km, whereas the 161 km IDC model provides around 130 km of TrueRange. Under top-spec configurations, the electric motor generates 4.7 kW of peak power and 16 Nm of torque. The Konarc S model reaches a top speed of 70 km/h, with higher performance expected in future planned variants.
