The Indian automobile sector experienced robust demand in July 2026 as major passenger vehicle manufacturers reported significant gains across domestic sales and wholesale dispatches. Passenger vehicle giants, including Maruti Suzuki India Limited, Tata Motors, Hyundai Motor India, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, JSW MG Motor, and Nissan Motor India, recorded double-digit percentage expansions compared to the same period in the previous year.
Maruti Suzuki Achieves All-Time High Domestic Passenger Car Volume
Maruti Suzuki India Limited posted a 34 percent surge in total sales for July 2026, reaching 2,41,421 units against 1,80,526 units delivered in July 2025. Domestic passenger car dispatches jumped 43.4 percent to 1,96,203 units during the month, compared to 1,37,776 units in July 2025. This performance represents the highest-ever domestic monthly passenger car sales volume recorded in Maruti Suzuki's operational history.
Tata Motors Surge 59 Percent as Electric Car Sales Double
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited recorded a 59 percent increase in total July 2026 sales, delivering 63,760 units compared to 40,175 units in the corresponding month of 2025. Domestic passenger vehicle sales rose 58 percent to 62,611 units, up from 39,521 units in July 2025. International market shipments jumped 76 percent to 1,149 units from 654 units previously. Electric passenger cars experienced accelerated adoption, growing 114 percent to 15,217 units in July 2026, up from 7,124 units in July 2025.
Hyundai Motor India Reaches Highest-Ever Monthly Total Volume
Hyundai Motor India Limited marked its best-ever monthly sales figure in July 2026, delivering 75,360 units for a 25.4 percent year-on-year increase. Domestic market sales accounted for 54,210 units, rising 23.3 percent to achieve an all-time peak for the company. Tarun Garg, CEO and MD of Hyundai Motor India, stated that the company began the new quarter with strong performance, confirming that the July volume of 75,360 units represents the largest monthly volume in the company's history.
Toyota Kirloskar and JSW MG Motor Maintain Sales Momentum
Toyota Kirloskar Motor reported a 5 percent increase in domestic sales for July 2026, reaching 30,516 units against 29,159 units in July 2025. Meanwhile, JSW MG Motor India logged its highest-ever monthly wholesale dispatches to dealers, rising 22 percent to 8,158 units. The company's New Energy Vehicle (NEV) portfolio delivered its strongest monthly performance, contributing over 80 percent of total sales volume.
Nissan Motor India Wholesales Expand by 66.5 Percent
Nissan Motor India Private Limited saw its total wholesale dispatches climb 66.5 percent in July 2026 to 9,339 units, up from 5,608 units in July 2025. Domestic wholesale dispatches alone rose to 4,518 units during the month, compared to 1,420 units recorded in July 2025.
