Kia is planning a major product offensive in the Indian market for 2026-2027, shifting its primary focus toward hybrid and electric vehicle technologies. This strategic pivot aims to address the growing demand for fuel-efficient and eco-friendly mobility solutions amid rising fuel prices. The upcoming lineup includes the Syros EV, Sorento Hybrid, Seltos Hybrid, and the next-generation Sonet, targeting a diverse range of market segments.
The carmaker's India-centric strategy will rely on local manufacturing, advanced in-car features, and competitive pricing structures. By introducing these updated and brand-new models, the brand aims to offer options spanning affordable sub-compact electric cars to premium family-oriented hybrid SUVs.
Kia Syros EV: Affordable Compact Electric SUV
The Kia Syros EV is expected to launch around July or August of 2026. This sub-compact electric SUV will utilize the Hyundai Creta Electric platform and will be offered with two distinct battery options: 42 kWh and 49 kWh. It is designed to deliver a realistic real-world range of 300 to 400 kilometers, making it highly practical for both daily city commutes and longer highway journeys.
Inside, the electric SUV will come equipped with high-end features such as a panoramic sunroof, a fully digital instrument cluster, a large central touchscreen, connected car features, Level 2 ADAS, and strict safety designs. With an estimated ex-showroom price ranging between ₹14 lakh and ₹20 lakh, the Syros EV will compete directly with the Tata Nexon EV and the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV in the growing Indian electric car segment.
Kia Sorento Hybrid: A Luxurious 7-Seater Flagship
Catering to the premium segment, the Sorento Hybrid is anticipated to arrive in late 2026, specifically around October or November. This full-size SUV will feature three rows of seats and measure approximately 4.8 meters in length. It will run on a strong hybrid powertrain consisting of a 1.5L or 1.6L turbo petrol engine, promising impressive fuel efficiency, smooth power delivery, and high torque output.
The premium package will offer dual 12.3-inch displays, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree parking camera, and a high-spec ADAS safety suite. An AWD option is also expected to be available. Positioned as a direct rival to the Toyota Fortuner, the Sorento Hybrid is likely to carry an ex-showroom price between ₹30 lakh and ₹45 lakh, bringing low-running-cost luxury to large families.
Kia Seltos Hybrid: Fuel-Efficient Mid-Size SUV
Building on its highly successful mid-size SUV, Kia is set to introduce the Seltos Hybrid next year. The vehicle will couple a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine with a strong hybrid setup, enabling it to achieve an impressive fuel economy of over 25 kmpl in city driving environments. While reducing tailpipe emissions, the model will retain or upgrade its high-end tech, including ADAS Level 2+, a panoramic sunroof, a premium Bose sound system, and a dual-screen dashboard setup. Local sourcing of hybrid components will keep the ex-showroom price within a competitive bracket of ₹19 lakh to ₹25 lakh.
Next-Gen Kia Sonet: Spacious Design with 5-Star Safety Target
The popular sub-compact SUV, Sonet, is scheduled for a generation upgrade in early 2027, with an expected launch in February. Built on the brand's new K1 platform, the next-gen model will feature a longer wheelbase, resulting in improved legroom for rear-seat passengers. Additionally, it is being developed with the goal of securing a 5-star safety rating in the Bharat NCAP crash testing program.
The upcoming Sonet will also receive modern upgrades such as dual 12.3-inch displays, Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera system, and refreshed exterior styling. The engine lineup will carry forward the existing 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol, 1.0L turbo petrol, and 1.5L diesel options. It is expected to be priced between ₹8 lakh and ₹16 lakh (ex-showroom), keeping it highly competitive against the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, and Tata Nexon.
