Hyundai India has announced an assured buyback program for its recently introduced Creta Electric SUV. Under this scheme, buyers will receive a guaranteed 60 percent buyback value after a usage period of three years or 45,000 kilometers, whichever comes first. The company stated that this initiative is designed to address the primary concern of electric vehicle buyers regarding future resale value in the automotive market.
Introduction of Battery as a Service Model
The buyback scheme follows the recent rollout of the Battery-as-a-Service option for the vehicle. With BaaS, the initial ex-showroom price of the electric SUV starts at 10.99 lakh rupees excluding the battery, alongside an EMI charge of 3.9 rupees per kilometer for the battery usage. The automaker anticipates that these combined offerings will significantly drive sales. Prospective buyers evaluating this program alongside the rental battery model can review the design, features, and driving range specifications.
Exterior Design and Specific Styling Elements
The electric vehicle shares its foundational architecture with the internal combustion engine versions but incorporates several distinct electric-specific modifications. The front fascia features a pixelated graphic grille, a built-in charging port, active air flaps, and 17-inch aero alloy wheels. The rear incorporates a matching pixelated bumper and LED lighting elements to establish a unique road presence. Furthermore, the vehicle offers a ground clearance of 200 millimeters.
Interior Layout, Cabin Space, and Amenities
Inside the cabin, the layout utilizes a dual-tone grey and dark navy color scheme accompanied by dual 10.25-inch curvilinear screens functioning as the infotainment display and instrument cluster. It features a shift-by-wire gear system and a spacious cabin layout. Luggage capacity includes a 433-liter boot space and a 22-liter frunk. Cabin amenities consist of a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered seats, an 8-speaker Bose audio setup, dual-zone climate control, wireless charging, V2L capacity, a digital key, BlueLink connectivity, and single-pedal driving support known as i-Pedal.
Safety Equipment and Advanced Driver Assistance
Passenger safety is managed through six airbags, all-wheel disc brakes, electronic stability control, hill start and descent assist, a tire pressure monitoring system, and Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 ADAS capabilities. The safety suite includes lane keeping assist, forward collision warning, blind spot assist, and smart cruise control. The vehicle body structure incorporates advanced high-strength steel to enhance occupant protection during impacts.
Battery Options, Powertrain, and Charging Performance
The SUV is available with two battery pack configurations, measuring 42 KWH and 51.4 KWH. It utilizes a front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor. The smaller battery delivers 135 bhp, while the larger 51.4 KWH unit produces 171 bhp. Both variants offer ARAI-certified driving ranges of up to 420 kilometers and 510 kilometers respectively. The vehicle accelerates from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in 7.9 seconds. Utilizing a DC fast charger, the battery replenishes from 10 to 80 percent charge in just 39 minutes.
