TVS Motor overtakes Hero and Honda to top June two-wheeler sales chart

TVS Motor has claimed the number one spot in India's two-wheeler market for June 2026 based on total sales, even as Hero MotoCorp continues to lead the purely domestic segment.

India's two-wheeler industry saw a major shake-up in its June 2026 sales numbers, with the overall rankings looking very different depending on how you count the units. When domestic sales and exports are combined, TVS Motor has leapfrogged both Hero MotoCorp and Honda to claim the top spot in total sales for the month. But that is not the whole story, because once exports are stripped out and only India's domestic market is considered, the picture flips almost entirely.

Hero MotoCorp still rules the domestic market

Looking purely at vehicles sold within India, Hero MotoCorp has held on to its number one position. The company sold 5,02,890 units domestically in June 2026, keeping it at the top of the domestic chart. That figure is still 4.24% lower than the 5,25,136 units it sold in June 2025, meaning Hero has slipped slightly on a year on year basis even while retaining its lead. The company continues to maintain a strong presence across both rural and urban markets. On the combined total sales measure, which includes exports, Hero MotoCorp has dropped to second place with 5,41,159 units.

TVS Motor sets a new benchmark in total sales

June 2026 turned out to be an outstanding month for TVS Motor. The company recorded combined domestic and export sales of 5,65,417 units, enough to place it first across the entire industry. Interestingly, in the domestic market alone TVS Motor sits in third place, having sold 4,11,014 units. Even so, that is a massive jump from a year earlier, when the company sold just 2,81,012 units domestically in June 2025, translating into a strong 46.26% year on year growth in domestic sales. It is TVS Motor's robust export performance that ultimately pushed it to the top of the overall sales table.

Honda posts a sharp turnaround

Honda has also strengthened its footing in the market. On combined domestic and export sales, the company sold 5,28,281 units in June 2026, placing it third overall. Its domestic performance was even more impressive, with 4,68,956 vehicles sold in June 2026, securing second place in the domestic rankings. That is a big jump from the 3,88,812 units sold in June 2025, marking a strong 20.61% year on year growth in domestic sales. The rise suggests growing customer confidence in Honda's lineup.

Bajaj Auto and Royal Enfield post strong gains

Bajaj Auto has also seen consistent improvement in its sales. The company sold 1,66,956 units domestically in June 2026, compared to 1,49,317 units in the same month a year earlier, a positive year on year growth of 11.81% in domestic sales. Rising demand for its Pulsar motorcycles and Chetak electric scooters is seen as the key driver behind this growth, helping Bajaj continue to build its appeal and market share. Royal Enfield, meanwhile, has strengthened its dominance in the 350cc and 350cc plus motorcycle segment. The company sold 1,02,930 units domestically in June 2026, a sharp 33.75% jump from the 76,957 units sold in June 2025. Growing interest among young buyers in Royal Enfield's premium and adventure motorcycles is the main reason behind this strong surge in sales.

Suzuki Motorcycle sees a mild dip

While most manufacturers are on a growth path, Suzuki Motorcycle recorded a slight decline in domestic sales. The company sold 91,264 vehicles domestically in June 2026, compared to 95,244 units in June 2025. That works out to a modest 4.18% year on year decline in domestic sales. Suzuki is now leaning on its scooter and premium segment offerings to try to stage a comeback in the market and offset this dip in the months ahead.

What this means for you

For anyone planning to buy a two-wheeler, these numbers show which brands are gaining momentum and which are seeing softer demand right now.

  • For buyers: Rising domestic sales at Hero, Honda, Bajaj Auto and Royal Enfield suggest these companies may keep pushing discounts and finance offers on new models to stay competitive.
  • For investors: Monthly sales figures like these for listed companies such as TVS Motor, Hero MotoCorp, Honda's operations and Bajaj Auto act as an early signal of business momentum ahead of quarterly results.
