Akshay Kumar's multistarrer Welcome To The Jungle took over cinemas the moment it hit screens, with audiences showering it with love from day one. The film opened to a strong response, and Sunday saw a huge jump in collections. However, its pace has slowed down on working days, and on day six, that is Wednesday, the film's box office numbers dropped into single digits. Here is how far Welcome To The Jungle actually is from the Rs 100 crore club in India.
A blockbuster weekend
The film's box office run began with strong previews. On Thursday, preview shows alone brought in Rs 3.75 crore. The following day, Friday, marked its official release, and the film opened with a solid Rs 15.25 crore. Collections picked up further over the weekend. On Saturday, the second day, the film added a net of Rs 20.10 crore, while Sunday turned out to be its biggest single day yet, with the film raking in a record Rs 24.75 crore net. That took its opening weekend net total in India to Rs 63.75 crore, while its worldwide gross collection touched Rs 93.45 crore.
A dip on Monday, but the Rs 100 crore mark is crossed
As expected on the first working day, collections saw a normal dip on Monday, the fourth day, when the film earned Rs 8.50 crore. That pushed its total net collection in India to Rs 72.25 crore. The same day, overseas markets added another Rs 3 crore, taking the worldwide gross to Rs 106.48 crore and helping Welcome To The Jungle cross the Rs 100 crore mark by just its fourth day.
Growth on day five, slowdown on day six
On Tuesday, the fifth day, collections rose by about 8.8 percent compared to Monday, with the film logging a net of Rs 9.25 crore. That brought its total gross collection in India to Rs 104.25 crore. But the momentum slowed again on Wednesday, the sixth day, when the film earned only around Rs 6 crore, according to trade website Sacnilk. With that, Welcome To The Jungle's total business in India stands at Rs 87.50 crore so far, and the film is expected to comfortably enter the Rs 90 crore club by day seven.
