Unfolding of the Farm Incident in Jyoti Nagar
The event occurred on Saturday afternoon around 2:00 PM in the Jyoti Nagar locality, which falls under the Dehat Kotwali police station area in Hardoi. Akash, who operates a local dairy business, was working when his 21-year-old younger brother, Arun, brought water for him in the fields. As Arun reached down to lift a sack of fodder, a venomous snake hiding underneath bit him unexpectedly. Arun cried out in pain, alerting Akash, who immediately rushed him toward the main road while dialing emergency ambulance services and the local police for assistance.
Crucial Transport Assistance on the Highway
As Arun's physical condition began deteriorating rapidly due to the spread of venom, an unexpected savior stepped in. Shivam Sharma, a resident of Pragati Nagar who runs a local medical store, happened to be passing by on his motorcycle. Recognizing the extreme severity of the situation and the urgent need for medical care, Shivam immediately offered help. He seated both brothers on his motorcycle and rode directly to the Medical College without wasting a single moment.
Emergency Medical Procedures and 15 Anti-Venom Doses
Upon arrival at the emergency wing of the Medical College, Emergency Medical Officer Dr. Sher Singh and his five-member medical team immediately initiated intensive treatment protocols. Assessing the severe toxicity levels in Arun's bloodstream, the medical team determined that standard dosage would be insufficient. While typical snakebite cases usually require five anti-venom injections, doctors administered 15 anti-venom doses within a span of two hours to neutralize the dangerous toxin.
Why Staying Awake Proved Life-Saving
Along with the intensive medical treatment, Dr. Sher Singh issued a strict directive to the family: Arun had to remain awake under all circumstances. Medical experts explain that allowing a venomous snakebite patient to fall asleep can prove fatal. Drowsiness can lead to the collapse of the nervous system and creates a severe risk of airway blockage if the patient vomits while unconscious. Following the doctor's instructions meticulously, Akash repeatedly slapped his brother around 150 times over the course of treatment to ensure he remained conscious, allowing the medical team to monitor his vital signs and successfully pull him out of danger.
