Bollywood actor Pankaj Tripathi is currently making headlines for his upcoming project titled ‘Paarivarik Manoranjan’. Known widely for his simplicity and remarkable performances, Tripathi believes that while preparing to portray a specific character on screen can take just a few weeks, transforming into a seasoned actor requires years of hard work and dedication. In his view, acting is not restricted to merely understanding a role, but is instead a lifelong learning process.
The Carpentry Analogy And Character Prep
During a conversation in Goregaon East, Mumbai, alongside his co-star Aditi Rao Hydari, Pankaj shared his perspective on preparation. He explained that an artist might get one, two, or three weeks to prepare for a role in a film, during which they read the script and try to grasp the character. However, shaping oneself as an actor takes multiple years.
To elaborate on this thought, he used the analogy of a carpenter. The actor noted that building a chair might take four days, but learning to make that chair with such craftsmanship takes four years of practice. Similarly, character preparation can happen in weeks, but the dedication behind becoming an actor spans 15 to 20 years.
Personal Tastes And Online Reactions
During the interaction, Tripathi also addressed audience preferences and reactions to films on social media. He stated that artists and filmmakers often fall into the confusion of wondering what viewers actually want to watch. According to him, if a particular person dislikes a specific dish, it does not mean the food itself is bad; it is merely a matter of personal preference.
The actor added that a similar trend is visible on the internet, where a viewer immediately labels a story as bad simply because it did not suit their taste, even though they might develop an interest in that exact narrative later on.
A Cinema Resembling Homemade Food
Speaking about his upcoming release ‘Paarivarik Manoranjan’, Pankaj described it as cinema resembling homemade food. He shared that it is a clean film meant to be enjoyed alongside one's family. Given the fast-paced editing styles of modern cinema and the shrinking attention spans of viewers today, the approach and tone of this film stand out as distinctly different.
