Saumya Tandon began her professional career in the entertainment industry as a model. She earned the title of first runner-up in the Femina Cover Girl contest in 2006. Soon after, in 2007, she appeared in Imtiaz Ali's blockbuster film Jab We Met, where she played Roop, the sister of Kareena Kapoor's lead character. She also hosted three successful seasons of the popular reality television show Dance India Dance.
