Mumbai Police Crime Branch on Sunday apprehended a 22-year-old woman from Karnal in Haryana in connection with the shooting attack on Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff, raising the total number of arrests in the case to 13. Investigators revealed that the detained woman is a relative of absconding accused Anil Pandit and that her bank account was directly used to transfer funds to other conspirators involved in the attack. The operation was executed with assistance from the Karnal police force, and legal proceedings are underway to transport her to Mumbai on transit remand ahead of her court appearance scheduled for Monday.
The Ambush Outside a Juhu Football Ground
The armed assault took place on October 18 in Mumbai's Juhu locality as the 36-year-old actor was exiting a football venue. Assailants opened fire on Tiger Shroff's vehicle, causing widespread shock across the Hindi film industry. While the actor narrowly escaped severe harm, he sustained a hand injury during the gunfire. The vehicle's driver was injured in the incident, alongside an auto-rickshaw driver and a vlogger who was standing nearby at the time of the firing.
Invoking Stringent BNS and MCOCA Provisions
Following the attack, a formal case was registered on October 19 under Sections 109(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), alongside Sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act. Over the subsequent fortnight, police progressively tracked down field operatives, shooters, and logistic planners. The tally of 13 apprehended suspects now includes three women. To dismantle the organized syndicate behind the plot, authorities escalated the charges to invoke the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
Financial Backing and Syndicate Network Scrutiny
The invocation of MCOCA followed formal sanction granted by the competent authority under Section 23(1)(a) on October 27, 2026, leading investigators to add Sections 3(1)(ii), 3(2), and 3(4) to the case against all accused. The detention of the 22-year-old woman marks a crucial breakthrough in tracing how the operation was financed from interstate locations. Police continue their manhunt for Anil Pandit while analyzing the complete trail of bank transactions utilized to facilitate the strike.
