A significant development is on the horizon for commuters traveling between Lucknow and Kanpur, as the long-awaited Kanpur-Lucknow Expressway is ready for its official opening. This major infrastructure project arrives alongside a package of three national highway projects collectively valued at over ₹4850 crore. The launch and foundation stone laying for these developments are scheduled for tomorrow, marking a significant milestone for regional connectivity. The event will see the participation of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari.
Grand Ceremonies in Unnao
The visiting dignitaries are expected to arrive in Unnao by 3:30 PM. A formal event has been organized at kilometer mark 51 in Padri Khurd Jhau Kheda, under the Unnao Sadar Tehsil. In anticipation of the VVIP arrival, local police and district administration have shifted to a high-alert status, ensuring robust security arrangements are in place around the venue. This expressway is expected to drastically reduce travel time and act as a catalyst for industrial and economic expansion in the surrounding areas.
The Official Inspection and Journey
The itinerary for the VVIPs includes several key segments in Unnao. The proceedings will commence with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the 49-kilometer mark, marking the partial opening of the expressway. Following this, the guests will review a special exhibition curated by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). After conducting an inspection of this greenfield project, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the two Union Ministers will personally experience the road by traveling in a car from Unnao to the main venue at the Sainik School in Lucknow. The primary official event will conclude at the Sainik School, highlighting the government’s commitment to improving vital transport infrastructure across the state.
