Shares of hospital chain operator Paras Healthcare began trading on the Indian stock exchanges on Wednesday, October 28, opening at a premium of 3.90 percent over their issue price before extending their gains during the early trading session. The equity shares debuted at Rs 720 on both the BSE and the National Stock Exchange of India, marking a clean start against the initial public offering price of Rs 693. Strong interest from market participants immediately after the opening bell helped the newly listed stock advance further above its listing price.
Early Morning Rally Across Exchanges
By 10:15 AM, the upward momentum lifted Paras Healthcare shares to Rs 739 on the NSE, representing an advance of 2.64 percent from the opening tick and an overall climb of 6.64 percent above the issue price. Trading activity was equally upbeat on the BSE, where the stock changed hands at Rs 740.25. At this level, the share price was up 2.81 percent from its opening quote and 6.82 percent higher than the upper band of the IPO price. Both exchanges recorded steady transaction volumes as buyers absorbed shares from early allotment holders looking to book listing gains.
Allotment Mathematics and Investor Earnings
For retail investors who received shares through the allotment process, the minimum bidding application was set at a single lot comprising 21 shares. At the final issue price of Rs 693, bidding for one lot required a capital commitment of Rs 14,553. When trading commenced at Rs 720, the valuation of that single lot rose to Rs 15,120, translating into an immediate gross listing profit of Rs 567 per lot. As buying picked up and the NSE quote advanced to Rs 739 during the morning run, the market value of the 21-share lot reached Rs 15,519, expanding the unrealized profit to Rs 966 per allotted lot.
Performance Outpaces Softening Grey Market Signals
The positive listing surprised participants who had tracked unofficial grey market trading ahead of the debut. The grey market premium had steadily tapered down to roughly Rs 13 immediately prior to listing, implying an expected opening price around Rs 706, substantially lower than the actual Rs 720 opening level. In contrast, grey market sentiment had been considerably firmer when the issue first opened for bidding on October 21, with the unofficial premium quoted at Rs 40 before gradually eroding over the course of the three-day subscription window. The actual exchange debut demonstrated that institutional and retail demand on the open market proved stronger than the unorganised pre-market quotes indicated.
Issue Details and Fundraising Structure
The public offering of Paras Healthcare raised a total of Rs 1,450 crore and remained open for subscription between October 21 and October 23, with the price band established between Rs 660 and Rs 693 per equity share. The fundraising structure comprised a fresh issue of shares aggregating Rs 500 crore alongside an offer for sale component amounting to Rs 950 crore. Under the OFS portion, promoter Dharminder Kumar Nagar and financial investor Commelina offloaded part of their holdings. Prior to finalising this structure, the healthcare services provider had originally filed draft paperwork proposing a larger public issue of Rs 1,800 crore before scaling it down to the final size.
Anchor Allocation and Deployment of Fresh Proceeds
Ahead of opening the books to public bids, Paras Healthcare mobilized Rs 652.30 crore from 39 anchor investors at the upper price band of Rs 693 per share. The management has clearly earmarked the intended usage of the Rs 500 crore fresh capital. Up to Rs 375 crore will be utilized toward the repayment or prepayment of outstanding borrowings taken by the parent firm and its operating subsidiary. The residual portion of the net fresh proceeds will be channelled into general corporate purposes, supporting working capital requirements and day-to-day operational liquidity.
Brokerage Perspective and Long-Term Projections
Institutional analysts have begun formal evaluation of the newly listed healthcare firm. Choice Institutional Equities initiated coverage on the company with a buy recommendation, noting, "We project Revenue/EBITDA/PAT to expand at a CAGR of 21.9%/29.4%/99.1% over FY26-29E." The brokerage attributed this growth trajectory to an expanding portfolio of high-value specialized medical care, the strategic rollout of established regional hospital facilities into underserved secondary markets, and expanding operating leverage stemming from improved bed occupancy and clinical capacity utilization. Backed by a discounted cash flow methodology implying an enterprise value to EBITDA multiple of 14 times on projected fiscal 2029 earnings, the brokerage pegged a target price of Rs 900 on the counter, indicating an upside potential of approximately 30 percent from the issue price.
