Marking a key step in this direction, a private university professor and director, Shalini Singh Bisen, recently called on Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow to discuss ongoing agricultural initiatives and future roadmaps.
Collaborative Efforts to Strengthen Financial Returns
Working closely alongside the state administration, Shalini has dedicated substantial efforts toward elevating cultivators' financial standings. Her core focus centers on popularizing mushroom farming among rural communities. The state government is actively participating in these endeavors, maintaining close coordination for project execution and dedicated training programs designed to help growers achieve higher financial returns.
Minimal Space and Low Capital Requirements
According to Shalini Singh Bisen, state-backed coordination efforts are currently providing growers with comprehensive training in modern mushroom cultivation techniques and associated byproduct manufacturing. A major advantage of this agricultural pursuit is that it does not require sprawling farmlands. Production can be carried out efficiently within very limited spaces or even indoors inside residential setups.
Upcoming Training Center Near Lucknow
Setting up indoor mushroom production requires a modest initial cost ranging between 15,000 to 20,000 rupees, while the ultimate financial returns depend on the specific mushroom variety, production volume, market reach, and processing methods. Entrusted with this project by the state government, Shalini has been actively driving the initiative since 2024. Current plans involve establishing a dedicated mushroom production and training center in the vicinity of Lucknow, where growers will receive instruction entirely free of cost.
Value-Added Products for Enhanced Earnings
Beyond raw cultivation, the state administration is ensuring that growers receive specialized training in developing value-added mushroom products. Through the Department of Horticulture, a specialized laboratory and designated training rooms have been established within a private university campus. These facilities focus on manufacturing unique items like laddoos, namkeen, and other food products derived from mushrooms. These innovations are designed to offer health benefits to consumers while helping farmers secure two to three times their initial investment in pure profit.
