A major controversy has erupted at Professor Rajendra Singh (Rajju Bhaiya) University in Prayagraj following the announcement of the LLB semester examination results. Around 12,000 candidates from various law colleges affiliated with the university appeared for the examinations, out of which approximately 3,000 students were declared fail. The failure of such a large number of law students sparked widespread outrage across the campus and affiliated institutions. Suspicious of the grading, several affected students filed Right to Information (RTI) applications to inspect their answer scripts, uncovering severe irregularities and sheer carelessness in the evaluation process.
RTI Answer Copies Reveal Evaluation Flaws and Zero Marks
When students received photocopies of their evaluated answer sheets through the RTI process, the marking pattern shocked both candidates and faculty members. In one instance involving an LLB fourth-semester student who applied for the copy of the third paper, detailed and complete answers were written in the answer booklet, yet the examiner awarded zero marks on those pages. Similarly, in the fourth paper of the same semester, marks were allotted in an arbitrary manner. Despite writing all the correct points in the answers, the examiner merely awarded 1 mark for each major answer as a routine formality, raising serious doubts about the credibility of the checking procedure.
3,000 Out of 12,000 Candidates Failed: Future of Law Students at Risk
The overall statistics of the LLB examination highlight an alarming scenario. Out of approximately 12,000 students who took the exams, only about 9,000 managed to pass, leaving nearly 3,000 candidates failed. Law students pointed out that such a mass failure cannot be treated as an isolated issue affecting a couple of individuals. They alleged that the entire answer script evaluation process was completed in a rushed and negligent manner. Consequently, even bright and hardworking students now face an uncertain future due to improper grading practices.
Growing Agitation: Students Demand Re-Evaluation by Subject Experts
As evidence of flawed evaluation surfaced through RTI copies, resentment among students across the university campus and affiliated law colleges escalated rapidly. Protesting students have intensified their demands for immediate administrative intervention. Their core demands include
