The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences successfully wrapped up the nationwide administration of the NEET PG 2026 examination on August 30, 2026. The examination had a massive footprint, spanning 339 cities across all 36 states and union territories of the country. A total of 1,111 dedicated testing centers were established to accommodate the aspirants. Out of the 2,73,096 medical professionals who had registered for the test, 2,65,980 candidates actually appeared at the centers. Consequently, the entire testing process for roughly 2.63 million candidates concluded securely and without major disruptions.
Strict Security and Surveillance Measures
To curb any potential malpractice, cheating, or proxy attempts, the examining body implemented rigorous safeguards throughout the process. A transparent environment was maintained using live closed-circuit television monitoring, dedicated command centers, and Aadhaar-based biometric verification. For overarching supervision, 16 regional command centers were operational nationwide. The central headquarters in Delhi monitored all 1,111 venues via live video feeds. This elaborate technological framework was managed through a collaborative effort involving the Ministry of Health, BEL, ECIL, and TCS teams.
Deployment of Flying Squads and Independent Appraisers
Beyond digital surveillance, extensive human oversight was deployed to guarantee a fair testing process. A total of 2,527 independent appraisers were assigned to various examination venues. Furthermore, over 700 senior officials, including deans, directors, and senior professors from multiple medical colleges, were appointed to active flying squads to inspect centers and maintain strict adherence to guidelines.
Power Supply Failure in Jaipur and Remedial Action
Despite smooth proceedings nationwide, an internal power supply failure occurred at two examination venues located in the Sitapura industrial area of Jaipur, specifically the iON digital zones designated as TC centers 41682 and 41683. This technical glitch disrupted the examination for 2,445 candidates who were unable to finish their papers. Acknowledging the setback, the board expressed regret over the disruption and resolved to provide a fair and equal opportunity to all affected students.
Re-Exam Scheduled for September 5 in Jaipur
To address the inconvenience faced by the Jaipur candidates, the board announced that a re-examination for the 2,445 affected aspirants will take place on Saturday, September 5, 2026, starting at 3:00 PM. Fresh examination centers and comprehensive instructions will be announced shortly. Additionally, revised admit cards will be issued to ensure that every affected candidate can complete their examination process smoothly.
