Cauliflower cultivation is turning out to be a highly profitable agricultural venture for farmers. Due to strong market demand and favorable pricing, growers are generating impressive returns in a short span of time. Currently, the market price of cauliflower ranges between forty and fifty rupees per kilogram, which is providing significant financial benefits to agricultural producers.
Low Investment and High Returns
According to Sukhdas Maurya, cauliflower farming requires minimal investment while delivering substantial profits. A farmer cultivating one acre of land can earn up to one and a half lakh rupees. However, fluctuations in market rates can impact the final earnings. Cultivating cauliflower on half an acre incurs an expense of approximately thirty thousand rupees, while generating an income ranging from one to one and a half lakh rupees.
Preparation and Planting Process
The farming process begins with ploughing the field two to three times, followed by running a rotavator. Subsequently, raised beds are prepared, and healthy saplings from a pre-grown nursery are planted. A distance of one and a half feet is maintained between individual plants to ensure proper growth and adequate space for development.
Fertilizers and Pest Management
To nourish the crop, cow dung manure, DAP, urea, potash, and superphosphates are utilized. While cauliflower plants do not face frequent major disease outbreaks, there is always a risk of insect infestations affecting the leaves. Regular pesticide spraying is strongly recommended to protect the crop, ensure healthy growth, and secure a high-quality harvest.
Harvest Timeline
With proper care and timely management, the cauliflower crop matures and becomes ready for the market within forty-five to fifty days. This short harvest cycle allows growers to cycle their fields efficiently and secure steady seasonal income.
