Police operating in the Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur (MCB) district have secured a major breakthrough against illicit narcotics trafficking by intercepting a massive consignment of contraband. Acting on intelligence during night patrolling, Nagpur police stopped two suspicious pickup vehicles and recovered approximately 919 kilograms of cannabis. The market value of the seized consignment is estimated to be upwards of Rs 4 crore 5 lakh. Authorities immediately confiscated the vehicles and took six individuals into custody.
Contraband Was En Route from Odisha to Madhya Pradesh
Preliminary investigations revealed that the contraband was sourced from Odisha and was being transported across state lines toward destinations in Madhya Pradesh. The smugglers attempted to move the illicit cargo under the cover of night using commercial utility vehicles to evade suspicion. However, vigilant police teams intercepted both vehicles and discovered the massive cache packed tightly inside the cargo beds.
Interrogations Underway to Uncover Syndicate Kingpin
All six arrested suspects are currently undergoing intensive interrogation as investigators work to map out the entire interstate supply chain. Officers are focusing on identifying the primary suppliers operating in Odisha as well as the local receivers who were slated to take delivery of the cargo in Madhya Pradesh. Financial trails and communication logs linked to the suspects are also being scrutinized.
