Australia's women's cricket team, led by captain Sophie Molineux, beat England by 7 wickets in the final at Lord's to lift the Women's T20 World Cup 2026 title, a record extending seventh crown in this format. The Australians first won the trophy back in 2010, then went on to become champions again in 2012, 2014, 2018, 2020 and 2023, building a dominance in T20 cricket that no other side has come close to matching. Lifting the trophy again in 2026 only tightens that grip on the format and further widens the gap between Australia and every other team chasing them. England, meanwhile, once again fell short of a second title of their own. They had won their only T20 World Cup back in 2009, their first and so far their last, and had reached four finals since that solitary triumph, losing to Australia on every single one of those occasions. It means Australia has now stood between England and a second title four times running. Along with the trophy and the bragging rights, Australia's win also brought in a massive cash reward, and interestingly, even India and Pakistan, both of whom were knocked out well before the knockout stages, ended up walking away with healthy paydays of their own.
Champions Australia Collect 22.27 Crore Rupees
The International Cricket Council had set the total prize money budget for the Women's T20 World Cup 2026 at around 8.764 million dollars, roughly 83.41 crore rupees, a figure that is 10 percent higher than what was on offer at the previous edition. That increase is a clear sign of how much the overall prize pool tied to the women's game keeps climbing with each passing cycle. As champions, Australia's team received about 2.340 million dollars in prize money, which works out to roughly 22.27 crore rupees in Indian currency. Runners-up England did not go home empty handed either, even in defeat. For finishing as the tournament's second-best side, they were handed around 1.170 million dollars, close to 11.13 crore rupees, exactly half of what the champions took home.
Every Participating Team Walked Away With A Reward
Under ICC rules, every one of the 12 teams that took part was guaranteed a minimum payout regardless of how far they went in the competition. Each side was assured at least 247,000 dollars, about 2.35 crore rupees, purely for taking part in the tournament. On top of that guaranteed sum, any team that won a match during the group stage earned an additional bonus of 31,154 dollars, close to 29.64 lakh rupees, for every single win recorded. Teams that fought their way to the semifinals but lost there were rewarded even more generously. West Indies and South Africa, the two sides eliminated at the semifinal stage, each received around 675,000 dollars, roughly 6.42 crore rupees, well above what any group stage exit could earn.
India And Pakistan Cash In Despite Group Stage Exit
Both India and Pakistan failed to make the semifinals this time, with both sides going out at the group stage itself. Even so, the Indian women's team had put in a strong showing in their group matches, winning three of them. Pakistan's team, by contrast, managed just a single win in the entire group phase, and that came against Netherlands. Despite the early exits, both teams still cashed in handsomely once the guaranteed fees and win bonuses were added up. India's team pocketed about 2.35 crore rupees simply for participating in the tournament, and on top of that earned a separate bonus of 88.94 lakh rupees for their three match wins in the group stage. Altogether, that gave the Indian team total earnings of 3.23 crore rupees from this single World Cup. Pakistan's team did not come away empty either, and despite only one win to show for their campaign, still finished the tournament with total earnings of 2.64 crore rupees.
