The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced the India Women A squads for the upcoming multi-format home series against Australia Women A, scheduled for September. The comprehensive tour features three T20 matches, three One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and a four-day unofficial Test match. Emerging star Anushka Sharma has been appointed to captain the T20 squad, while experienced wicketkeeper-batter Yastika Bhatia will take charge of the team for the ODI and four-day Test legs.
Tour Schedule and Match Venues
The upcoming series against Australia Women A will kick off with the shortest format in September. The three-match T20 series is scheduled to take place on September 12, 15, and 17, with all three encounters hosted at the cricket ground in Chandigarh.
Following the conclusion of the T20 fixtures, the focus will shift to 50-over cricket. The PCA Stadium in Mohali will serve as the venue for the three ODIs, slated for September 20, 23, and 25. The tour will conclude in Dharamshala, where both teams will compete in a standalone four-day unofficial Test match from September 29 to October 2 at the picturesque Dharamshala Stadium.
Captaincy Allocation and Key Player Highlights
The selection committee has maintained a balanced approach across formats. Anushka Sharma, who leads the T20 side, previously captained the India A squad during their tour of England in June, securing a 2-1 T20 series win. Fast-bowling all-rounder Sayali Satghare will serve as her deputy in T20s. In both the ODI and four-day Test squads, Anushka will assume the vice-captaincy role under Yastika Bhatia.
Spin-bowling all-rounder Amandeep Kaur from Chandigarh has earned her maiden India Women A call-up, being named in the ODI squad. Meanwhile, former India Under-19 captain Nikki Prasad features in all three squads following her key role in Hubli Tigers' recent victory at the Maharaja T20 Trophy title.
