Record-Breaking Pre-Sale Ticket Rush
New Zealand Cricket launched the member pre-sale window on August 24 as part of its International Summer Cricket calendar. Demand spiked instantly, leading to 26,000 tickets being sold within two days. Board officials attributed this massive rush directly to the arrival of the Indian team for an extensive 12-match tour featuring five T20 Internationals, five One Day Internationals, and two Test matches.
Tickets for the white-ball fixtures scheduled at Auckland's iconic Eden Park witnessed the highest volume of early sales. Meanwhile, Christchurch's Hagley Oval, which has a spectator capacity of 9,000, is also heading toward complete sell-outs. Hagley Oval will host the first two T20 Internationals on October 22 and October 24, as well as the second and final Test match from November 27 to December 1. Local venue managers expect all sessions across these fixtures to sell out well in advance of match days.
High Demand Across Wellington and Other Venues
The nation's capital, Wellington, is witnessing a similar ticket rush. Sky Stadium (also known as HNRY Stadium) is scheduled to host the third T20 International and the second ODI, while the historic Cello Basin Reserve will stage the series-opening Test match starting November 19.
Expressing satisfaction over the overwhelming early response, New Zealand Cricket Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer Glenn Critchley highlighted the commitment of cricket followers. Glenn Critchley said, "The record sales in the first two days prove that fans took our advice to plan early." He added that the governing body had continuously encouraged supporters to book early so as not to miss the opportunity to watch world-class international stars perform live in local stadiums.
General Public Sales Window Opens September 7
While member pre-sales continue to break records, ticket sales for the general public are set to open on September 7. However, New Zealand Cricket confirmed that non-members can still gain immediate access to the ongoing pre-sale by registering for free on the Cricket Nation platform. In addition to securing priority seating, fans who register during this window receive an exclusive 15 percent discount on ticket purchases.
Currently, the Indian team is concluding its tour of Sri Lanka, which ends on August 27 following a two-Test series. Team India will then return home for domestic series against Afghanistan and the West Indies through September and October. Following those home assignments, the squad will fly to New Zealand for the tour opening on October 22, embarking on an intense month of high-stakes international cricket.
