During Pakistan's first innings at Edgbaston, Saud Shakeel played a resilient knock of 43 runs, standing out as the only batsman capable of offering resistance against the English bowling attack. Speaking to the media after stumps on day one, Shakeel stated that it is deeply frustrating to see the batting unit commit identical errors repeatedly. He remarked that the issue should not simply be attributed to a lack of confidence, noting that if players do not possess the self-belief required to compete at this elite level, they simply do not belong on the field. At the same time, he acknowledged that breaking out of a poor run of form under difficult circumstances can be an uphill battle.
