A shocking daylight attack in Punjab's Tarn Taran district resulted in the murder of an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) sarpanch after armed assailants ambushed his vehicle. The attackers opened heavy fire near the local bus stand, critically wounding both the local leader and his driver. Although the sarpanch was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment, doctors were unable to save him, and he died during medical care.
Car Surrounded Near Bus Stand Before Gunfire Erupted
The brazen assault took place while the sarpanch was traveling in his car. As the vehicle approached the bus stand area, armed miscreants encircled it and unleashed a barrage of bullets. The sudden shooting triggered widespread panic across the busy commercial vicinity, forcing pedestrians and shopkeepers to scramble for safety.
Assailants Flee on Motorbike as Police Launch Manhunt
Immediately after spraying the car with bullets, the armed attackers fled the scene on a motorcycle. Both the sarpanch and his injured driver were quickly transported to the hospital by onlookers and family members, where the sarpanch later succumbed to his bullet wounds. His driver remains under medical supervision. Law enforcement authorities arrived at the crime scene shortly after the incident, cordoning off the area and examining nearby surveillance footage to trace the fleeing suspects and establish the motive behind the targeted killing.
