In a shocking daylight attack on 26 August 2026, Haryanvi singer, actor, and YouTuber Ankit Balyan was shot dead in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district. The incident occurred just as Balyan stepped out of a local gym following his workout routine, when four armed assailants ambushed him and opened fire at close range, targeting his head with multiple rounds.

The violent encounter unfolded rapidly in Shamli as Balyan exited the fitness center. According to eyewitness accounts, four armed attackers surrounded him without warning and fired dozens of bullets in quick succession. The sudden sound of gunfire triggered intense panic among nearby residents and bystanders. The assailants fled the scene immediately after the shooting. Law enforcement personnel quickly arrived at the spot, secured the area to gather forensic evidence, and launched a manhunt to track down the fleeing suspects.
Native of Bantikheda Village Base in Haryana
Ankit Balyan originally belonged to Bantikheda village located in Shamli district. To pursue his artistic ambitions, he had been residing and working across Rohtak and Sonipat in Haryana, establishing himself as a performer, actor, and digital video creator within the regional entertainment landscape. News of his death has sent shockwaves through the regional music industry and among his online followers.
Past Controversies and Legal Cases
Balyan had previously been involved in legal troubles over his controversial track releases. On 27 July 2023, an FIR was filed against him and 40 of his supporters in Shamli over his provocative song titled "Bhari Court Me Goli Marenge", prompting a police search for his location at the time. Later, on 13 April 2025, a second track by the artist was banned by authorities. Addressing the prohibition, Balyan expressed concern over financial damages, asking "who will bear the loss" before signaling a transition toward Bhojpuri music projects. Authorities are currently investigating all potential motives behind the homicide, including past rivalries.
