A routine snatching case in Bundi district took an extraordinary turn when a bag taken from a street beggar turned out to contain a small fortune. Two motorcycle riders targeted a beggar who regularly begged near the local bus stand, grabbing his worn bag under the assumption that it contained worthless personal items or minor spare change. However, when the perpetrators retreated to a secluded forest area to examine their loot, they uncovered bundles of currency notes amounting to more than Rs 6,13,000. The unexpected discovery prompted a swift police operation that ultimately led to the capture of both suspects and the full recovery of the stolen money.
Skepticism Surrounding the Initial Theft Claim
The incident came to light after the victim created a commotion on the premises of a local hospital, alleging that two men on a motorcycle had snatched his bag containing lakhs of rupees. Officers from the Kotwali police station arrived at the scene to assess the situation. Initially, law enforcement officials expressed skepticism regarding the claim, suspecting that a beggar carrying such a substantial cash sum was unlikely and possibly a baseless rumor. Despite their initial doubts, officers registered a formal complaint and initiated a thorough investigation. Subsequent inquiries confirmed that two bike-borne individuals had indeed fled with the beggar's belongings.
Forest Discovery and Equal Division of Loot
Following the snatching, the two suspects, identified as Raghuveer and Trilok, rode towards a dense forested zone along Phool Sagar Road to inspect the stolen bag. Expecting to find food items or small coins, they opened the dirty container and were stunned to discover stacks of cash exceeding Rs 6,13,000. After taking out the entire cash amount, the robbers abandoned the empty bag in the jungle. They divided the fortune equally, taking over Rs 3,00,000 each, and transported the cash to their respective homes where they hid the money to avoid detection.
Police Investigation, Arrests, and Ongoing Probe
Kotwali Police Station Officer Ramesh Arya stated that law enforcement officers tracked down the culprits by analyzing the motorcycle registration number and following physical evidence from the crime scene. Police arrested both Raghuveer and Trilok while also impounding the motorcycle utilized during the commission of the crime. During detailed interrogation, both suspects confessed to their involvement in the snatching. Police successfully recovered the stolen cash along with various documents that had been stored inside the bag. Law enforcement authorities have now opened a secondary inquiry to determine how the beggar accumulated such a large sum of money.
