Investigators uncovered that popular applications were weaponized to groom vulnerable youth and indoctrinate them into extremist ideologies, revealing a deep security threat that went far beyond mere online propaganda.
Extremist Agenda and Exploitation of Instagram
According to the findings of the investigation, the accused operated as active sympathizers of the banned terrorist organization ISIS, working systematically to expand its foothold within the country. They utilized platforms like Instagram to target impressionable individuals, systematically pulling them toward radical paths through targeted messaging and persuasive material. The ultimate objective behind this sinister network was to foster violent activities within India, undermine national integrity, and challenge the sovereignty of the nation by recruiting dedicated operatives through digital indoctrination.
Secret Communication App, Weapons, and Explosive Plans
The conspiracy extended well beyond virtual recruitment, involving concrete preparations for violent actions on the ground. To evade detection by law enforcement and intelligence agencies, the perpetrators went to the extent of developing and testing a specialized secure communication application for their internal exchanges. Furthermore, plans were formulated to impart practical training in handling weapons and manufacturing explosives to the radicalized recruits. In response to these grave offenses, the National Investigation Agency invoked stringent sections under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act against the accused.
The origin of this high-profile case dates back to March 23, 2026, when an initial FIR numbered 98/2026 was registered at the Vijayawada-II Town police station in Vijayawada.
