The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force executed a major operation on Sunday during the UPSSSC graduate-level main examination, clamping down on malpractice rings. Authorities nabbed a candidate red-handed inside a Lucknow examination center while he was attempting to cheat using an advanced Bluetooth device. Several electronic gadgets capable of communicating covertly were recovered from his possession during the raid.
The detained candidate has been identified as Brijesh Kumar Yadav, son of Dan Bahadur Yadav, who hails originally from Jaunpur and resides in Prayagraj. He was caught operating from within the Dayanand Kanya Inter College examination center located in Sector C of the Mahanagar area in Lucknow.
How the Advanced Gadget Was Concealed
According to the investigating officers, Brijesh managed to smuggle a SIM-based high-tech Bluetooth device inside the examination hall. To avoid physical checks, he had hidden the apparatus inside a specially tailored vest pocket along with his undergarments. The modus operandi relied on connecting with external solvers stationed outside the venue during the test hours to receive answers to the question paper in real time.
During the thorough search procedure, officials seized the Bluetooth device alongside its ancillary components, a mobile phone, his admit card, an Aadhaar card, the OMR sheet, and multiple original question papers.
Ten Lakh Rupees Paid as Advance to the Gang
During the interrogation following his detention, Brijesh revealed to the STF that another Prayagraj resident named Ramesh Chandra Patel had engineered the cheating arrangement for him. To ensure his clearance in the competitive test, he had handed over a sum of 10 lakh rupees in advance to Ramesh. The accused confessed that this individual had supplied him with the customized vest and the prohibited communication hardware.
The STF stated that initial inquiries indicate Ramesh Chandra Patel has a history of orchestrating examination frauds through dedicated solver networks. The task force is currently expanding its scope of investigation to uncover all associates linked to this racket and bring them to justice.
Prior Intelligence Led to the Crackdown
The STF headquarters had received actionable intelligence ahead of the commencement of the examination regarding the active presence of solver syndicates. Acting on these inputs, surveillance was heightened on suspicious candidates. With the help of informer leads and administrative cooperation at the center, officers successfully apprehended Brijesh directly from his desk.
Authorities are pursuing legal measures under relevant sections while continuing their search for Ramesh Chandra Patel and other co-conspirators. State enforcement agencies have previously cracked down on various illegal networks, including a major crackdown by UP STF on online gaming betting ring operating in the region.
