A major counterfeit goods syndicate producing spurious versions of well-known household brands has been dismantled in the national capital. The Crime Branch of Delhi Police conducted coordinated raids targeting two separate godowns located in Ghonda alongside an illicit packaging factory operating out of Aman Puri in Nangloi. The targeted operation resulted in the arrest of two individuals identified as Naveen Singhal and Balraj Bansal.
Massive Haul of Spurious ENO and Raw Chemical Stocks
The scale of fake consumer products recovered from the raided premises was substantial. Investigative teams seized 1,97,856 packaged units of counterfeit ENO on the spot. In addition to the finished retail packs, officials discovered over 310 kilograms of loose filled pouches, representing an estimated count of nearly 4 lakh individual units. Approximately 200 kilograms of citric acid, which served as the primary raw ingredient for manufacturing the fake antacid powder, was also confiscated by law enforcement authorities.
Counterfeit FeviKwik Units and Forged MDH Packaging Materials Confiscated
The counterfeiters did not restrict their illegal trade to digestive remedies alone. During the searches, police teams recovered 1,12,560 pouches carrying counterfeit FeviKwik branding. Investigators also uncovered counterfeit packaging materials bearing the labels of other reputable consumer brands, including MDH spices. The illicit manufacturing facility in Nangloi was outfitted with commercial equipment, utilizing electric packing machines alongside industrial sealing guns to package the spurious products seamlessly.
Operational Roles and Investigation into Distribution Channels
Interrogations revealed a clear division of operational responsibilities between the two suspects. Balraj Bansal was directly responsible for formulating, manufacturing, and sealing the counterfeit items within the factory, whereas Naveen Singhal managed the commercial distribution and retail sale of the spurious stock. Both suspects hold a prior history of involvement in similar counterfeit trading offences. Police investigators are currently tracing the origins of the raw materials, determining which interstate supply lines received these shipments, and identifying other conspirators linked to the ring.
Crackdown on Contaminated Pickle Facilities in Jaipur
Parallel enforcement against adulterated and hazardous consumer goods unfolded in Rajasthan's capital, Jaipur. Food Safety Department officials inspected Shri Shyam Foods in Muhana Mandi, where storage tanks filled with pickles were found infested with dead lizards, mosquitoes, spiders, and cobwebs. Authorities immediately impounded roughly 85,000 kilograms of prepared pickles and raw ingredients, sealing the establishment to halt all business operations. Collected samples of pickles and sauces were dispatched to testing laboratories, while administrative steps began to suspend the firm's operational food licence. Nearby, Pioneer Natural Products in Muhana was also penalised for misleading health claims and incomplete packaging addresses, leading to stock seizures and immediate operational bans.
