The four-day inter-school cultural festival Tarang 2026 was inaugurated with great enthusiasm at Army Public School, Tezpur. Spearheaded by the Gajraj Corps, the multi-faceted youth event features nearly 800 students participating from 25 schools across Sonitpur district. Commencing on 20 August 2026, the celebration aims to nurture young talent, encourage holistic personality development, and provide a constructive platform where creativity, sportsmanship, and intellectual capabilities can flourish alongside one another.

Inspired by the core vision of building a new India through youth energy, rich culture, and creative output, this festival encourages participants to step beyond traditional classroom boundaries. Through active engagement in diverse competitive events, students learn essential real-world skills, including collaboration, mutual respect, and strategic problem-solving. Dignitaries Gather for Grand Inauguration
The opening ceremony was graced by Lieutenant General Neeraj Shukla, AVSM, SM, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Gajraj Corps, who served as the chief guest. Joining him at the venue were the Vice Chancellor of Tezpur University, distinguished academicians, and principals of the 25 participating schools. Proceedings began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony and Ganesh Vandana, followed by the formal unveiling of the Tarang Rolling Trophy, which represents continuous perseverance, fair competition, and academic and co-curricular excellence.
Keynote Message on Values and Modern Challenges
Addressing the young crowd, the GOC urged students to embrace life's challenges with confidence, practice independent thinking, and cultivate foundational qualities such as discipline, bravery, critical reasoning, integrity, and sustained initiative. Drawing valuable life lessons from historical and cultural references, including the Mahabharata, the symbolism of Ravana's ten faces, and the emerging complexities of the digital era, he emphasized that sound judgment and strong ethical character are vital to shaping the nation's future. He reiterated that traditional values spark inspiration, creative efforts drive innovation, and youth power will ultimately carry a developed India forward.

Tarang 2026 stands out as a meaningful collaborative bridge connecting the armed forces, higher education bodies, and primary and secondary schools. Demonstrating a deep commitment to social inclusion, the event welcomed participating children from Parowa village, an area adopted by the Gajraj Corps. This inclusive participation underscores the importance of reaching every section of society and building strong bonds within the local community.
