Audiences who appreciate crime and mystery dramas have an exciting new title to anticipate. The creators behind the hit series Paatal Lok are returning with a fresh and compelling investigative drama titled Babita Singh Reporting. Streaming platform Prime Video has officially announced the global premiere date for this original film, which is scheduled to drop on August 28.
The plot centers around a small-town setting in India, following a suspended police officer named Babita, also known as Baby. She has spent the entirety of her life placing the needs of others above her own. However, when a childhood friend is murdered, Baby is shattered. Driven by grief, she embarks on a relentless pursuit of the truth, a journey that ultimately allows her to confront her own identity and understand herself on a deeper level.
A Stellar Cast and Experienced Creative Team
The film is directed by Ambaeca Pandit, with the screenplay written by Amita व्यास. It is produced by Saurabh Malhotra, Manuj Mittra, and Tina Tharwani under the banners of Squad Productions and Act Three. Paatal Lok veteran Sudeep Sharma serves as the executive producer. The project features Nimisha Sajayan in the lead alongside Barun Sobti and Anshuman Pushkar in pivotal roles. The film will be streamed in Hindi across more than 240 countries and territories globally, including India.

Nikhil Madhok, Head of Originals at Prime Video India, noted that the film is much more than a standard investigative drama, describing it as a deeply human story of a woman's rights, grief, and pursuit of truth. Meanwhile, executive producer Sudeep Sharma shared that while the plot revolves around a crime, at its core, it is the personal journey of a woman who has always lived according to others' expectations. He praised Nimisha Sajayan for bringing the role to life, while noting that Barun Sobti and Anshuman Pushkar have added further strength to the narrative.
