Long before her debut film made audiences take notice, South cinema actress Bhagyashree Borse grew up counting every single rupee her family had. In a recent interview, the actress opened up about the painful financial struggles her family went through and the sacrifices that shaped her before fame ever entered the picture.
Born in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, raised amid hardship
Bhagyashree Borse was born on May 6, 1999, in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, formerly known as Aurangabad, Maharashtra, into an ordinary lower-middle-class household. At 27, she has already won over audiences with her very first film, but there was a time when she and her family had to account for every single rupee that came in or went out.
Her father lost his job right after she was born
The actress revealed that her father lost his job soon after she was born, plunging the family into serious financial distress. Running the household became a daily battle. Her father went door to door searching for work but struggled to find any, and the family found itself short even of 10 rupees at a time. Bhagyashree said watching her father beg for work broke her heart, a memory that still moves her deeply today.
A diary that tracked every rupee spent
Recalling those difficult years, Bhagyashree shared a specific memory that stayed with her. Her parents kept a diary noting down every household expense, and one entry that stuck with her recorded 10 rupees spent on spinach and another 10 rupees on chillies. Seeing that entry broke her heart. She also revealed that her family managed to run its entire household on just 300 rupees a month during that period, a figure that shows just how tight money really was.
From Nigeria to Mumbai, and a turn of fortune in modelling
Part of Bhagyashree's childhood was spent in Nigeria. After the family returned, she went on to complete her management studies in Mumbai. Alongside her studies, she decided to try her luck in modelling, and that decision changed the course of her life. The opportunities that came from modelling eventually opened the door to films. With her striking smile, strong screen presence and confident acting, she managed to catch the attention of top South cinema directors and audiences alike within a very short span. The same Bhagyashree who once had to keep track of 10 rupees at a time is now riding high on stardom with her debut film.
