This latest seismic occurrence comes shortly after an earlier event on August 6, when tremors were recorded in the Upper Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh. That previous quake had registered a magnitude of 3.5 on the Richter scale, which was similarly verified and published by the seismological agency. The recurrence of tremors within a short span in different districts has prompted experts to examine the continuous movement along local fault lines. Although Friday's 2.9 magnitude quake falls under a low-intensity classification, specialists emphasize that monitoring continuous minor shakes is essential to understanding the regional seismic dynamics.

The China Earthquake Networks Center recorded a 5.1 magnitude quake in Longchang city at 1:13 PM, pinpointing its focal depth at approximately 13 kilometers. Initial reports from Chinese authorities indicated no immediate casualties or structural destruction. These incidents follow recent severe earthquake devastation in neighboring Nepal, where a major natural calamity resulted in multiple fatalities and left several individuals missing.
