Internal friction within the Cine and TV Artistes Association, widely known as CINTAA, has taken an intense turn with serious allegations concerning the management of official bank accounts and fixed deposits. Amid mounting tension following the dissolution of the earlier governing body, former office-bearer and actor Upasana Singh has directly accused fellow actors Poonam Dhillon and Padmini Kolhapure of misusing organizational reserves without legitimate authority.
Allegations Over Unfreezing Accounts and Moving Rs 90 Lakh
Actor Upasana Singh, alongside actor Nagma, claimed that frozen bank accounts were reopened improperly despite the governing committee having been dissolved. They stated that roughly Rs 90 lakh deposited in CINTAA fixed deposits was broken and transferred to alternative accounts without securing required approvals from the general membership. According to Upasana Singh, standard governing protocols strictly mandate member consensus before touching institutional fixed deposits, but established norms were allegedly ignored in this instance.
Account Status Across Five Banks and Previous Freezing Directives
Detailing the financial infrastructure of the body, Upasana Singh explained that CINTAA maintained operating accounts and fixed deposits across five distinct banking institutions. At the time the earlier executive committee was dissolved, Deepak Parashar was serving as treasurer. Letters were dispatched to each of the five banks instructing them to freeze all transactions until a court ruling resolved the governance dispute or a fresh committee took charge. Upasana alleged that despite these formal safeguards, unauthorized efforts succeeded in lifting restrictions and moving capital into other accounts.
Questions Over KYC Submission and Claims of Committee Membership
The accusations raised by Upasana Singh specifically target Poonam Dhillon, Padmini Kolhapure, and Paintal. She stated that these individuals visited bank branches accompanied by administrative office staff. During these branch visits, older organizational paperwork and official stamps were presented to finalize the required Know Your Customer verification. Upasana asserted that they represented themselves as active CINTAA committee representatives to get the frozen accounts reactivated, bypassing mandatory member consent.
Nagma Challenges Staff Salary Payments Ahead of October 26 Hearing
Actor Nagma also strongly criticized the expenditure of the association's reserve funds, questioning the justification for using broken fixed deposits to clear salaries for administrative staff. Nagma emphasized that this money belongs to the artist fraternity and should never be diverted in such an arbitrary manner. Pointing out the legal calendar, Nagma stated that the court had designated October 26 as the date to hear the matter. She argued that bypassing pending judicial proceedings, breaking locks to occupy the office premises, and withdrawing fixed deposit money before the verdict was completely unjustifiable.
