Superstar Rajinikanth returned to the big screen on Thursday with his action-comedy feature Jailer 2, marking the 172nd project of his cinematic career. The Tamil production arrived in theatres to an enthusiastic reception, drawing packed crowds and widespread appreciation across key territories as audiences celebrated the veteran actor's latest outing.
Dhanush Reacts on Social Media
Actor Dhanush joined the chorus of praise, posting an enthusiastic recommendation on X to encourage audiences to head to the cinema. Describing the film as a must-watch cinematic treat for any Rajinikanth supporter, he declared the project an outright blockbuster, further amplifying the positive word of mouth surrounding the theatrical run.
Enthusiastic Fan Reactions Across Madurai and Tamil Nadu
Spectators exiting opening-day screenings highlighted the sustained entertainment value of the production. Rajini Vishnu, a young viewer in Madurai, stated that the movie proved engaging enough to watch 100 times over. He drew attention to the natural comedy, Anirudh Ravichander's energetic musical score, and the magnetic central performance delivered by Rajinikanth.
Comparing the new instalment with its predecessor, Rajini Vishnu observed that while the titular hero relied on a knife during a signature car sequence in the first chapter, Jailer 2 sees him wielding a firearm, accompanied by striking action choreography. Recalling the origins of his fandom, he mentioned becoming an admirer after watching Kochadaiiyaan, which was the first Rajinikanth title he ever viewed, recalling that his school had declared a holiday on that occasion so students could experience it.
Screen Presence at 75 and Overall Production Elements
Another theatregoer in Tamil Nadu singled out the physical charisma and energy on display, remarking that delivering such an intense performance at the age of 75 is something only a superstar of Rajinikanth's stature can accomplish. Viewers also praised the accompanying creative departments, giving high marks to the background score, emotional beats, choreography, and visual set pieces.
Building on the 2023 Blockbuster Narrative
The release serves as a direct narrative successor to the 2023 commercial hit Jailer. Rajinikanth steps back into the shoes of retired jailer Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, who finds himself pulled into a high-stakes confrontation involving an illicit underworld network while protecting his family from emerging threats.
