Television star Dipika Kakar, best known to audiences as 'Simar', has been battling liver cancer for the past one year, and she recently returned to hospital for her second immunotherapy infusion session. Throughout this difficult stretch, her husband and actor Shoaib Ibrahim has stayed by her side, regularly updating fans through his vlogs on how the couple and their family are coping. In his latest update, Dipika opened up about her 3 year old son Ruhaan, and her words revealed just how helpless the situation has left her.
A Son's Tears Break His Mother's Heart
In his newest vlog, Shoaib shared that he was accompanying Dipika to her second immunotherapy infusion session, but would have to head back home right after dropping her off. He explained that over the past month, Ruhaan has been spending far more time with his mother than before, and now refuses to let her go anywhere without him. Speaking about this, an emotional Dipika said, "In the last one month, Ruhaan has become emotionally very weak. For several days he saw the house empty, which made him feel lonely. When we told him that we had to go to the hospital again today, he was completely unwilling. Since morning he kept saying don't go... so we are trying to make sure that one of us is always with him."
A Worry She Has Voiced Since April
This is not the first time Dipika has expressed concern about her son. In a vlog shared back in April, she had said that her illness was keeping her from giving Ruhaan the kind of time she used to. She explained that the treatment and the constant fatigue that comes with it often leave her needing to rest for an entire day, and that even during hospital admissions she stays away from her son, something she said is the hardest part of being a mother in her situation.
At the time, Dipika had also said that illness changes a person's entire routine. The body needs rest and priorities shift, and the toughest part becomes not being able to give time to her young child. She had said, "A lot of things keep running through my mind. Because of my illness, Shoaib too has ended up dealing with a lot of things alone. Many times I am not able to give Ruhaan time. On days when I feel extremely tired, I just keep sleeping. If I am admitted in the hospital, I cannot be with Ruhaan even if I want to."
Father in Law's Health Also Tested the Family
The past month has been nothing short of a trial by fire for the Ibrahim family. While Dipika was undergoing cancer treatment, Shoaib Ibrahim's father suddenly suffered a brain hemorrhage on May 23. He had to be hospitalised and remained admitted for a full 37 days. Shoaib eventually shared the relieving news with fans through his vlog that his father had finally been discharged from the hospital.
An emotional Shoaib said, "We are bringing papa back home after a full one month and seven days. We are so thankful to God that papa is finally coming home. His health has improved, but we will have to be extremely careful. The right side of his body is responding a little better compared to the left side."
Shoaib and Dipika Stay Busy on the Work Front
Despite everything the family has been through, Shoaib Ibrahim has remained active professionally. His new music video "Tu Saath Nahi" was released recently on June 29. Meanwhile, Dipika Kakar is currently focusing entirely on her clothing brand and her YouTube content creation. Despite her illness, she continues to fight this biggest battle of her life with tremendous strength, staying connected with her fans through her vlogs.
