Actor-politician Ravi Kishan, who has built a name for himself in both Bhojpuri cinema and Bollywood and currently represents Gorakhpur in Parliament, is set to step into a striking new role. Having already appeared in Ayodhya's well-known Ramlila, he will now play Lord Ram himself in a grand stage production titled 'Ayodhya Ke Ram,' which brings the entire story of the Ramayana to life on stage.
Three-hour show set for October 19 in Delhi
The grand staging of 'Ayodhya Ke Ram' will take place in New Delhi on October 19. Running for roughly three hours, the production covers the full narrative of the Ramayana from start to finish in a single sitting. The show has been put together by producer-director Subhash Malik, also known as Bobby, who is the founder-president of Ayodhya's Ramlila and has spent the last four years working on this ambitious project.
Who plays Ravan, Meghnad and Kumbhkaran
Alongside Ravi Kishan, several familiar Bollywood faces will feature in the production. Actor Arun Bakshi takes on the role of Ravan, while Avtar Gill plays Meghnad. Raza Murad appears as Kumbhkaran. A number of other industry actors are also expected to join the cast, adding to the scale of the event.
The four years of work behind it
Subhash Malik has described 'Ayodhya Ke Ram' as more than just a play, calling it the leela of Lord Ram from his own dreams. He said that during his time in Ayodhya, he had a deep spiritual experience connected to Lord Ram and Bajrang Bali, and that this experience is what pushed him to conceive the production. According to him, the sacred land of Ayodhya and the blessings of the sadhus and saints there played a major part in shaping the show. That is also why the team does not want the production to be seen purely as entertainment; the larger goal is to carry India's culture and the story of Lord Ram to as wide an audience as possible. For those who attend, it promises to be less a stage show and more a chance to live the Ramayana up close.
