Reflecting on iconic moments of dance and romance in Indian cinema, actor Karisma Kapoor and renowned choreographer Geeta Kapoor shared a heartwarming nostalgic story from their early careers. Appearing on a special episode of the popular dance reality show India's Best Dancer Season 5, the duo revisited their cherished memories linked to Yash Chopra's legendary 1997 musical hit film Dil To Pagal Hai. Centered around the theme India Wala Dance, the episode featured both personalities recounting their very first interaction nearly three decades ago, as well as their subsequent artistic stage collaborations.
First Meeting on the Sets of 'Pyar Kar' in 1996
Choreographer Geeta Kapoor recalled her initial career steps, revealing that she first met Karisma Kapoor in 1996 during the filming of the famous song sequence Pyar Kar for Yash Chopra's romantic drama Dil To Pagal Hai. At the time, Geeta was just launching her professional journey in the film industry as a junior assistant choreographer. In contrast, Karisma was already an established mainstream Bollywood superstar. Despite her massive stardom, Karisma treated the newcomer assistant with immense warmth, humility, and respect on the film set.
Recalling the atmosphere on set, Geeta described her vivid memory of seeing the actor for the first time. She noted, "I still remember the first glimpse of Karisma; she was wearing a light blue gown at that time and was looking extremely beautiful." Geeta added that Karisma remains as stunning today as she was back then. Despite being a beginner assistant, Geeta shared that Karisma's gracious behavior never made her feel intimidated or conscious of standing before a top-tier movie icon.

Karisma Kapoor also shared her perspective on working alongside Geeta Kapoor across various projects. She clarified that while the two never collaborated on a full feature film after their initial meeting, they went on to perform together in numerous high-profile stage shows and live events. When Karisma Received a Challenging Dance Step on Stage
During the show, Karisma narrated an amusing incident from a stage performance rehearsal. She recounted how Geeta was assigning relatively simple and easy dance steps to the rest of the performing troupe, but handed Karisma a remarkably complex and grueling routine. Perplexed by the apparent disparity, Karisma decided to confront the choreographer directly about the decision.
Karisma asked Geeta, "When other people have been given easy steps, why was I given such a difficult step?" Geeta immediately reassured the star, expressing total confidence in her technical skills and performance abilities. Geeta convinced her that she had the talent required to execute the challenging sequence effortlessly, encouraging Karisma to successfully deliver the intricate routine on stage.
