A recent episode of the Marathi quiz programme Kon Honaar Crorepati turned into an engaging discussion on motherhood and culinary habits. The broadcast featured actor Yami Gautam alongside Adinath Kothare as special participants. In an exchange on the set, show host Madhuri Dixit looked back at her own parenting journey, revealing that she developed a pronounced fondness for spicy and savoury delicacies while expecting her second child.
Yami Gautam and Traditional Maharashtrian Feasts
The conversation took shape after Yami Gautam recounted how she marked the happy news of her first pregnancy through traditional culinary treats. Following the official announcement made during the trailer launch of her feature film Article 370, she reached out to her home cook without delay. To celebrate the occasion with proper cultural heritage, she instructed that a spread of puran poli and ukadiche modak be prepared immediately at home.
Madhuri Dixit on Her Pregnancy Diet
Hearing about traditional Maharashtrian sweets prompted Madhuri Dixit to revisit her own experiences with pregnancy cravings. The actor noted that although she personally loves ukadiche modak, she did not experience intense food urges during either of her pregnancies. Nevertheless, expecting her younger son proved to be a notable exception to that pattern, as her palate took a sharp turn toward intensely spiced preparations.
Reflecting on that phase, Madhuri Dixit remarked, "when I was pregnant the second time, I really loved spicy and savoury food, and now, that son of ours eats the spiciest food in the whole family." Drawing a direct link between prenatal dietary impulses and the tastes children develop later, she asked Yami Gautam whether her young son had picked up an appetite for sweets. Yami Gautam readily concurred, confirming that her boy indeed possesses an immense fondness for sugary dishes.
Family Life in Denver
The historical backdrop of that period traces back to 1999, when Madhuri Dixit married Dr. Shriram Nene and subsequently relocated to the United States, where she resided for several years. Her younger son, Ryan, arrived in March 2005 in Denver, the city where the household had established its base at the time. Unlike several high-profile entertainment industry figures whose maternal phases unfolded under intense media attention, she managed to keep those formative family years predominantly quiet and private.
