Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit dated Dr. Shriram Nene for three months before tying the knot. Having grown up in America, Dr. Nene did not watch Hindi films at all during his childhood and remained entirely unaware of the massive stardom and craze surrounding Madhuri.
During a recent appearance on Farah Khan's vlog show, Dr. Nene was asked how he remained so oblivious to Madhuri's massive celebrity status. He humorously explained that he grew up in the world of Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, and Star Wars. After dating for just three months, their tuning felt so right that he proposed to her.
The Wedding Reception Confusion
Recalling his wedding reception, Dr. Shriram Nene shared that he did not recognize a single person in the room. He compared the experience to a prom night where you simply wave at unfamiliar faces and later figure out who attended by looking through the wedding album.
Dr. Nene disclosed that among the gathered stars, the only person he recognized was Amitabh Bachchan, because he had watched the movie Amar Akbar Anthony as a child. He admitted he had no clue who Shah Rukh Khan or Salman Khan were at the time.
Life in Denver and the Neighbor's Police Confusion
Madhuri Dixit also shared a fascinating anecdote from her early days living in America. Life in Denver was quiet and peaceful because very few Indian families lived there, and her neighbors had no idea who she was, knowing her simply as Mrs. Nene while she dropped her kids off at school.
However, an unusual incident brought her actual identity to light. Madhuri recalled that one day a car kept circling their house repeatedly. Since people in America are extremely cautious about security, her panicked neighbor asked if they should call the police. Madhuri explained that she had to intervene and reveal her celebrity status to calm the neighbor down. The family eventually relocated to India permanently in 2011, allowing Dr. Nene to fully immerse himself in the glitz and glamour of the film industry.
