The Union Public Service Commission Combined Defence Services CDS-2 exam is scheduled for September 13. With less than a fortnight remaining before the test, this window should be utilized to consolidate preparation and focus heavily on revision rather than starting new topics. Instead of panicking, aspirants need to proceed with a well-thought-out strategy. During this phase, maintaining proper sleep schedules, a balanced diet, and mental peace is just as crucial as hitting the books.
Days before the exam, paying attention to center guidelines and time management is non-negotiable. A minor lapse on the day of the exam can ruin months of dedicated hard work. Knowing what to prioritize in the final leg helps candidates deliver their best performance across all three shifts of the examination.
Three shifts of examination and aligning your daily routine
The examination will be conducted in three distinct shifts on a single day, September 13. The first shift covers English from 9 am to 11 am, followed by General Knowledge in the second shift from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm, and Mathematics in the final shift from 4 pm to 6 pm. Aspirants are advised to align their study hours and mock test practice according to these exact time slots. This ensures the brain remains fully alert during those specific hours and grows accustomed to the designated routine.
Divide remaining days into three distinct phases
To manage the preparation effectively, divide the remaining days into three structured stages. Spend the first 5 days revising important topics and going through short notes. Dedicate the next 5 days to solving 1 to 2 mock tests daily alongside previous years question papers. Reserve the final 3 days exclusively for light revision and reviewing past mistakes. Rather than attempting multiple mock tests back-to-back, analyzing a single test to identify gaps proves far more beneficial.
Avoiding minor mistakes with admit cards and OMR sheets
Thoroughly verify the e-admit card and the original photo identity card brought along before heading to the examination center. Fill in the roll number, test booklet series code, and personal details with utmost care while completing the OMR sheet. A minor error on the OMR sheet can lead to the cancellation of the answer booklet. Gates to the examination centers will close 30 minutes before the commencement of the test, so plan to arrive well ahead of time.
Experiencing stress as the examination approaches is normal, but it must not be allowed to take over. Avoid studying late into the night during the final days and ensure 7 to 8 hours of sound sleep daily. Consume light and easily digestible meals so that sluggishness does not creep in on the test day, and avoid outside food for the next few days. During the gaps between the three shifts, avoid heavy studying or discussing questions with peers, and instead let the mind rest and stay calm.
