Religious fervour and elaborate preparations have swept the revered Govind Dev Ji Temple in Jaipur as the annual Krishna Janmashtami festival approaches. Festive activities are officially underway at the temple complex ahead of the main celebrations scheduled for September 4. To accommodate the massive influx of devotees, the temple management has modified its daily darshan timetable through September 4. Simultaneously, a month-long devotional music series has kicked off today, featuring daily sankirtan and bhajan performances by recognized troupes until September 3. Every year, hundreds of thousands of worshippers gather at the temple throughout the festive month to seek blessings and immerse themselves in devotional singing.
Revised Daily Darshan Timings Through September 4
The temple management committee has announced a revised timetable for daily viewing windows (jhankis) across the festive period up to September 4. While specific schedules will apply on Sundays and Ekadashi, the daily timetable for regular days is set as follows
- Mangala Jhanki: 5:00 AM to 5:15 AM
- Dhoop Jhanki: 7:45 AM to 9:00 AM
- Shringar Jhanki: 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM
- Rajbhog Jhanki: 10:45 AM to 11:15 AM
- Gwal Jhanki: 5:00 PM to 5:15 PM
- Sandhya Jhanki: 5:45 PM to 6:45 PM
- Utsav Jhanki: 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM

Special Janmashtami Schedule and Midnight Rituals on September 4
This year, the grand Krishna Janmashtami festival will be celebrated on September 4. To ensure smooth darshan for the dense crowds expected on the main day, the temple has instituted a dedicated schedule for September 4
- Mangala Jhanki: 4:00 AM to 6:30 AM
- Dhoop Jhanki: 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM
- Shringar Jhanki: 9:30 AM to 11:15 AM
- Rajbhog Jhanki: 11:45 AM to 1:15 PM
- Gwal Jhanki: 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM
- Sandhya Jhanki: 6:45 PM to 8:30 PM
- Shayan Jhanki: 9:15 PM to 10:30 PM
On the morning of Janmashtami, prior to the opening of Mangala Jhanki, the sacred Panchamrit Abhishekh of Thakur Shri Ji will take place. Following the bath, the deity will be adorned in new yellow garments, specialized ornaments, a traditional sirpech, and fresh flower garlands. Special birth celebrations will commence late at night following the conclusion of the Shayan Jhanki.
In keeping with tradition, the birth of Lord Krishna will be marked precisely at midnight with a 31-gun aerial salute and an extensive fireworks display. Immediately following the midnight salute, devotees will be granted Abhishekh darshan of Thakur Govind Dev Ji. The night rituals will feature Vedic chantings performed by six Vedpathi Pandits, alongside Shri Shaligram worship and the worship of five sacred substances preceding the main Panchamrit Abhishekh. The temple has arranged 425 liters of milk, 365 kg of curd, 11 kg of ghee, 85 kg of powdered sugar (boora), and 11 kg of honey as ceremonial offerings for the deity's grand abhishekh.
Daily Bhajan and Sankirtan Schedule (August 21 to September 3)
A longstanding tradition at the Govind Dev Ji Temple involves devotional music groups performing daily leading up to Janmashtami, drawing thousands of listeners every morning and evening. The day-by-day lineup running from August 21 to September 3 is structured as follows
- August 21: Shri Balaram Mahila Satsang Mandal in the morning; Rekha Saini and Deepak Mathur in the evening.
- August 22: Shri Gauranga Mahaprabhu Temple in the morning; Shri Nimbark Satsang Mandal in the evening.
- August 23: Shri Harinam Sankirtan Mandal in the morning; Shri Shiv Satsang Bhavan Trust Jaipur Parivar in the evening.
- August 24: Shri Nimbark Parishad in the morning; Shri Triveni Satsang Mandal in the evening.
- August 25: Shri Jagadguru Ramanand Sankirtan Satsang Mandal in the morning; Shri Manu Madhav Goirethar Mandal in the evening.
- August 26: Shri Gaur Govind Mahila Mandal in the morning; Shri Alok Bhatt in the evening.
- August 27: Shri Harinam Sankirtan Parivar in the morning; Shri Gurukripa Satsang Mandal in the evening.

- September 2: Shri Gopinath Mahila Mandal in the morning; Shri Gauranga Mahaprabhu Sankirtan Mandal in the evening.
- September 3: Asht Prahar Vrindavan Sankirtan Mandal will deliver the final morning performance.
Security Measures, Parking Plans, and Visitor Guidelines
Extensive security protocols and visitor directives have been implemented by temple authorities to manage crowds safely throughout the festival period. The temple administration has requested all visiting devotees to wear traditional Indian attire when entering the premises.
Police authorities will install 8 to 10 metal detectors across entry points, supported by approximately 150 scouts assisting with crowd control. CCTV cameras have been activated at designated locations throughout the temple grounds to monitor movement. For crowd convenience, 13 LED screens have been set up at prominent spots to broadcast live darshan visuals.
Vehicle parking has been arranged at Ramniwas Bagh Parking and Chaugan Stadium Parking. Devotees are advised against carrying valuable items, large bags, pouches, or ladies' purses into the complex. Women have been requested to avoid wearing expensive jewelry. All visitors must leave footwear and helmets at the designated stands outside before entering the temple gates.
A health advisory has also been issued in light of the expected crowd density. Individuals suffering from heart conditions, diabetes, high blood pressure, respiratory issues, or other chronic health ailments are urged to refrain from visiting the temple for their own safety. Visitors are requested to report any suspicious individuals or unattended items immediately to police personnel or temple staff on duty.
