A Bigger Vision Beyond One Night of Football
Reddy described himself as a lifelong sports and football enthusiast, recalling how proud he felt when Lionel Messi visited Hyderabad and shared the pitch with children from the state. He said his backing for the FIFA World Cup goes beyond a single event, calling it part of a longer-term plan for Indian football. In his post, he wrote, "I am convinced one day @IndianFootball team will play in the World Cup Finals and even host it." He added that he expected several of the country's future stars to emerge from Telangana itself, and signed off urging citizens to enjoy the final.
State Clears the Way for Public Screenings
Reddy's post came a day after the Telangana government gave commercial and private establishments, sports venues, restaurants and cafes among them, permission to stay open specifically so the public could watch the FIFA World Cup final together. Kickoff for the match is set for 12:30 AM IST on Monday, meaning venues needed special clearance to remain operational through the night. Hotels, restaurants, pubs and cafes across the state can now run live screenings right up until the final whistle.
Security on Par With New Year's Eve
Because thousands of people are expected to gather in public spaces overnight, authorities have put security arrangements in place that mirror what is normally seen during New Year's Eve celebrations. Police have also declared a zero-tolerance approach toward any violations that night, singling out drunk driving as an area where offenders will face strict action.
Hyderabad Dresses Up for the Occasion
The city's enthusiasm for the final has spilled onto its streets. Pillars along the Gachibowli Flyover now carry football-themed murals, including artwork depicting Lionel Messi alongside Indian football icon Sunil Chhetri, a visual reminder of how deeply the World Cup fever has gripped Hyderabad ahead of the big match. Screening venues across the city are also expected to draw thousands of fans eager to watch the summit clash live.

On the field, Monday's final at the New York New Jersey Stadium will be the first time the reigning European champions and the reigning Copa America champions have met in a World Cup title match.
