Jabra has introduced its Enhance Select M3 hearing aid, bringing subtle audio processing updates and modern broadcast connectivity to its behind-the-ear lineup. Built around the traditional teardrop form factor, the device reinforces Jabra's position among leading over-the-counter hearing solutions while fine-tuning speech processing in complex listening environments.
Design and Hardware Controls
The hardware retains a classic behind-the-ear form factor with a single tactile button placed on the rear of each unit. Users manipulate this multi-function control using different press-and-hold patterns to toggle power, adjust volume levels, and cycle through operational modes. The control layout provides physical accessibility without altering the established physical profile of previous models.
SoundScape System and Refined Autofocus
Audio processing is handled by the proprietary SoundScape system introduced in the prior product generation to reduce ambient noise and enhance conversational articulation. While SoundScape features are distributed across the M-series family, the M3 exclusive additions focus on dynamic directional audio. A revised autofocus feature targets human speech in acoustically chaotic venues such as restaurants, keeping voice dialogue coherent even when a speaking partner moves completely around the user.
Adaptive Listening Modes vs Manual Adjustments
The second flagship addition to the SoundScape suite on the M3 is an adaptive listening mode designed to alter noise suppression parameters dynamically based on environmental cues like indoor crowds or outdoor settings. In practical everyday operation, relying on preset environment modes proves less optimal than maintaining the hearing aids in the base All Around setting and making manual adjustments to noise reduction levels as conditions demand.
Speech Clarity and Volume Calibration
In low-noise conditions, such as one-on-one home conversations or watching television, the M3 delivers near-flawless vocal translation. Operating the hearing aids at approximately 30 percent volume provides the optimal balance between acoustic amplification and internal circuit static. Pushing the gain beyond this threshold causes background hiss to multiply rapidly, making moderate volume settings essential for clear listening.
Wireless Streaming and Auracast Integration
On the connectivity front, the M3 adds compatibility with Auracast broadcast technology, allowing direct connection to public and private audio transmitters. Despite minor hardware enhancements over prior iterations, streaming audio fidelity for music and videos remains flat unless set to maximum volume. Surrounding background noise also degrades wireless audio streams considerably.
Charging Case Capacity and Battery Endurance
The charging case maintains a substantial footprint, holding enough internal power to replenish depleted hearing aids three times before requiring a wall connection. While Jabra officially rates the M3 for 24 hours of operation on a single charge, real-world continuous usage extends closer to 26 hours before needing to be docked.
