As smartphones continue to grow into tablet-like form factors, a section of consumers remains eager for smaller devices that can comfortably be used with one hand. Major manufacturers like Apple have moved away from compact screen sizes, discontinuing lines such as the 5.4-inch mini series in favor of display sizes starting at 6.1 inches or larger. Addressing this gap in the consumer market, a new device called the Enough Phone is under development with the aim of delivering a fully functional, small-scale modern smartphone.
Physical Dimensions and Screen Performance
The Enough Phone features physical measurements of 133mm by 64mm, with a thickness of under 12mm. In imperial units, this converts to 5.24 inches long, 2.52 inches wide, and under 0.47 inches thick. These proportions put it in very close proximity to the footprint of the iPhone 13 mini, which measured 5.18 inches by 2.53 inches with a thickness of 0.3 inches. While slightly thicker than that legacy model, the overall hand-feel targets the same compact category.
The front of the phone houses a 5.3-inch display featuring a resolution of 1520 x 720 pixels. While lower in density compared to the 2340 x 1080 resolution found on the iPhone 13 mini, it is intended to provide basic clarity for users prioritizing usability over ultra-high-definition screens. The precise display panel technology has not yet been specified.
Processor, Memory, and Camera Hardware
Under the hood, the target specifications for the Enough Phone include a 2.4GHz MediaTek Dimensity 7500 processor paired with 8GB of RAM. Internal storage is set at 128GB, with support for expansion through a microSD card slot, a hardware feature increasingly absent from modern flagship smartphones.
For optics, the device plans to utilize a 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor for its main rear camera. On the front, it features a 32MP selfie camera, putting its front-facing hardware among the higher-resolution options available in the mobile market. Network and hardware capabilities include 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 6, eSIM functionality, and a physical SIM slot.
Repairability and Long-Term Software Coverage
Ease of repair is a core pillar of the project's hardware philosophy. Rather than using sealed adhesives, the device is constructed with easily removable housing screws and includes a user-replaceable 3,500 mAh battery. Alongside its physical maintenance features, the development project promises software support extending through 2032, allowing users to keep the phone operational long after purchase. On the audio side, custom ringtones for the device have been created by composer Brian Squillance of LAANDS.
Operating System Options and Market Context
The Enough Phone offers two distinct software setups. Buyers can opt for a standard installation of Android 17 or select OdysseyOS, a minimalist, de-Googled operating system created by SLEKE designed to limit screen time and reduce digital clutter. Neither option runs iOS, leaving current Apple fans with options limited to larger devices like the iPhone 17e or purchasing used or refurbished iPhone 13 mini units, which are projected to lose operating system support around the release of iOS 28 or iOS 29.
Crowdfunding Launch and Pricing Details
Currently in the prototype stage, the Enough Phone is seeking funding through a Kickstarter campaign ahead of a scheduled May 2027 delivery target. The initial Super Early Bird backing tier of $399 has sold out, but an Early Bird tier remains available at $449. This reward package includes a pre-installed glass screen protector, a protective case, a USB-C charging cable, a USB-C to 3.5mm headphone jack adapter, a hex screwdriver, and green Founders' Edition backplate screws. The planned retail price following the crowdfunding campaign will be $599.
