Sotai resident Vidya stated that their sole reason for occupying the grounds is the unpaid compensation for their agricultural plots. She explained that their continuous day-and-night presence, coupled with devotional singing, serves as a direct appeal for authorities to act responsibly and release the pending funds. Another local woman, Vimla Devi, reiterated that this is an uncompromising battle for their legal entitlements. Mukesh Kumar, a resident of Mahamadpur village situated about 5 kilometers from Sotai, highlighted how regional connectivity initiatives have disrupted lives across the belt. The dedicated expressway route connecting to the Jewar Airport project cuts directly through Mahamadpur, absorbing agricultural land along its designated corridor.
Kumar shared that his household's sole parcel of land was subsumed by this highway development. Despite possessing uninterrupted land tenancy records spanning 112 years of continuous Girdawari documentation and pursuing the dispute through the courts, he has yet to receive any compensation payout from the administration. Lamenting the high-handedness of local authorities, Kumar explained that his family now shares the exact same plight as the agitators in Sotai, compelling him to join the demonstration in search of overdue legal compensation.
